Previous state-based occupational health and safety (OHS) laws are being replaced by national legislation.
On 4 May 2011, The NSW Government introduced a Bill to enact the national model work health and safety legislation. The NSW Parliament passed the Bill on 1 June 2011.
This legislation will be consistent across Australia and will be known as the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) laws. If you are complying with the current OHS laws then you are well on your way to complying with the new WHS laws.
Northern Rehabilitation Management will assist employers to meet the requirements of WHS legislation through both practical advice and documentation that meets requirements and includes:
- Review of WHS program
- Risk assessment and control
- Workplace consultation
- Problem areas such as – manual handling and workstation setup
